This post part 3 of the Misadventure mini-series. These posts are taken straight out of the journal I kept at the time.
We had a very busy day planned. We had to go to the OB to review the final ultrasound. Then meet with my new real estate broker (I had just gotten my real estate license and needed a brokerage to work under). After that we had to go to my grandma's vacation home to meet the a/c repair man. And to top it all off, we were babysitting our goddaughter, E, from 8am-1am.
We started the day early so we could get in a workout before E would be dropped off. Our OB appointment was at 9:15. Somehow we made it there a few minutes late, 9:20 at the latest, but didn't get seen until over an hour later. After finally being seen, this is when we got the news that it was not ectopic. Up until then, we really didn't know since The Mrs.'s labs were doing some weird things. Because of this, the doc wanted one more lab draw before we went ahead with the methyltrexate. So, off to the lab we went. By the time The Mrs. got her blood drawn it was nearly noon and we had one restless toddler on our hands.
Lunch was our next stop. After that we went straight to the brokerage. I thought I was there to just sign a few forms, but the broker actually wanted to have another meeting. Being new and not really a part of the team, I couldn't really say no. Gosh, things were not going as planned. We still had to meet the a/c people on the other side of town in an hour. Somehow I managed to maneuver through the meeting while keeping it short. We met the a/c repair man, and the day was beginning to get back on track.
We planned to take E to the park, but that didn't really happen. Instead, when we got back home, we played water in the backyard and it was a blast! Soon it would be time to go to E's house to round out the day.
After dinner and putting E down for the night, The Mrs. began having cramps and some back pain. That was the beginn
ing of the miscarriage. Moments later she rushed off to the bathroom. This is where a blood clot and embryo-like thing would leave her body. Over the next hour, there would be two more bathroom bouts like this.
I'll be honest, I was freaking out the whole time. I didn't know what to do. All I knew, was that The Mrs. was in pain and there was some weird stuff coming out of her. The Mrs. on the other hand, handled the whole thing with poise and dignity. She had it all under control. Or at least she did a good job at pretending like she did.
I am super proud of my wife and the way she handled the whole thing. That night I learned exactly how much of a bad a** she truly is.
