So after about a year, The Mrs and I finally feel comfortable sharing that our little Rose is a rainbow baby. Now for those of you who are new to the term, a rainbow baby is a baby that follows a miscarriage or infant loss. I know this might not be the happiest of subjects to talk about, but I feel like its something that's not talked about enough. After talking to The Mrs. a lot about whether or not to share this, we decided that sharing our story may help someone who's going through something similar. At the very least it will bring attention to a subject that doesn't get talked about enough. This post will be part of a mini-series, and will be taken straight out of the journal I kept at the time. On Sunday, we had our first scare. The Misses called me at work while she was on her way home. She said she felt sharp pains in lower abdomen and lower back. We decided to go to the urgent care to get checked out. After blood, urine, ultrasounds and about 4 hours of waiting, we still didn't really know what was going on. We were told that there was a cyst in the right ovary & a sack in the uterus. It was too early to see a fetus in the sack and therefore too early to tell how it was doing. So when we left the urgent care we were nervous as ever. So we did our best and tried to comfort each other the best we could and move forward. Today (Tuesday) The Mrs. got a phone call from the doctor that saw us at the urgent care. The results from her blood test were in. It revealed that her HCG levels were higher than expected leading the doctor to wonder why the sac wasn't more developed. He ordered a second blood test to recheck her HCG levels. We are very nervous but still hopeful. Her morning sickness symptoms continue, so that encouraging. Tomorrow we'll find out the results from the blood test. On Friday we have an appointment with the OB. For now, we'll just wait and see.
