Today Rose had her two month wellness check-up at the doctor's. I'm happy to say that she is doing very well. When we first got there, the nurse measured Rose's weight, length, and head circumference. Then we were shuffled back to our examination room where The Misses was waiting. As we waited to be seen by the doctor I played with Rose on the examination table and reported her weight change to The Misses. In that moment it was hard to believe how much she has grown. In just two months she grew almost three inches and gained about four pounds! That's just amazing. A few moments later the doctor comes in to do physical examination. After a thorough examination, the doctor gave Rose a clean bill of health. She did say that Rose had a tiny bit of cradle cap going on but nothing major. She told us that a little bit of watered down Head and Shoulders applied with a soft bristle tooth brush should take care of it no problem (I'll let you know how that works out). Then at the end of the examination she asked if we'd be getting vaccinations. We said yes and she explained them all to us. As we waited for the nurse to bring the vaccines in, I held Rose since she was getting a bit fussy at this point. Boy was this a mistake. Because I was holding her when the nurse came in, I was also elected to hold her during the oral vaccine as well as the THREE shots she would be getting. The oral vaccine was easy peasy, my girl actually did very well. Next was the shots. The nurse was very kind and caring, but as soon as she gave Rose a shot and made her cry I hated her. Okay, maybe I didn't hate her, but I could feel my soul being torn apart as my baby cried in pain. It took a great deal of effort for me not to cry and look like a pansy in front of the nurse. As soon as it was over, I cuddled Rose and tried to will her pain away. She quickly stopped crying and everything seemed okay. Except I wasn't okay. That was heart breaking. In fact, it was so bad that I took a lollipop after to make me feel better. I've learned my lesson though, next time, The Misses is holding her and I'll be waiting in the car. Tips & Lessons Learned: - Don't be the one holding the baby when needles walk in the room. -If you are the unlucky soul, brace yourself. Your heart is about to be torn open. - Cuddles and kisses are mandatory to take the pain away.
